Today’s representation of love comes from my Claddagh ring. I purchased it in Galway, Ireland, from where they originate, six years ago. The heart represents love, the hands represent friendship and the crown represents loyalty. How one wears the ring is indicative of his or her relationship status. On the right hand, if the ring is facing out, it means the wearer is single; and if the ring is facing in, it means his or her heart is spoken for. On the left hand, if the ring is facing out, it means the wearer is engaged; and if the ring is facing in, it means he or she is married. Claddagh rings come in all different sizes and with various adornments, such as birthstones for hearts.
