Five Photos, Five Stories Challenge: Day 1 – Cheongju

March 31, 2015

I feel honored to have been nominated by the lovely Julia of Julia’s Odyssey to take part in the Five Photos, Five Stories Challenge. Thank you so much for thinking of me, Julia!

For those who don’t know, here are the details about the challenge:

“The Five Photos, Five Stories Challenge rules require you to post a photo each day for five consecutive days and attach a story to the photo. It can be fiction or non-fiction, a poem or simply a short paragraph – it’s entirely up to you.

Then each day, nominate another blogger to carry on this challenge. Accepting the challenge is entirely up to the person nominated, it is not a command. And actually, everyone can join in. So feel free to if you like the idea.”

“Cheongju”

There once was a girl overseas,

A linguaphile with no expertise,

Living in a city called Cheongju,

In order to broaden her world view.

An hour and a half from Seoul,

Keeps travel times under control.

Visits to the mountains or the sea,

Would take from one hour to three.

Lots of flashing lights,

keep momentum up at nights.

Finish quite late in a noraebong,

singing along to your favorite song.

Since I post daily anyway (well, try to post daily but at least have a photo for every day whether or not it is posted on time), I thought I would veer from the norm and experiment with elementary poetry for this one! 🙂

On Day 1, I would like to nominate Rea from I am the Real Martinez  because she is an avid blogger with great travel posts and is also teaching ESL to Korean students. Rea, the decision to accept the challenge or not is entirely up to you!
