Oops – He Peed In His Pants

Another week down! Here’s a brief recap of Monday through Thursday last week.

Look at my little worms squiggling around on the floor….

squiggling

I just started having to teach the 4 year old’s by myself, ie: without a Korean teacher in the classroom with me. I’ve learned some key phrases that sound like “on-day joo-say-yo” and “hah-joo-ma” that essentially mean, please stop. I’ve also had to start bribing them with stickers. Jaden is still hard to control sometimes and Haenah will just copy him. On her own, she is so well-behaved. When it’s the two of them, half the class is spent trying to get Jaden to cooperate.

Now that I am alone when I teach them, I have to bring them to the bathroom by myself, as well. This is new. I’m fine taking Haenah to the bathroom but I really have zero experience with little boys. Jaden just stopped wearing the Korean equivalent of pull-ups, anyway. I knew that the Korean teachers take him to stand at the kiddy toilet so I figured I’d do the same thing. When we got there, I realized that the angle was totally off, and if he just went, he’d end up going all over himself and the floor. Not sure of what to do, I pulled up his pants and walked him out of the bathroom to get help. Unfortunately, we didn’t make it very far before I realized that Jaden went in his pants anyway. Oops. The next time I watched one of the Korean teachers take him so now I know what to do. Sorry, Jaden!

This evening we went to meet another expat from whom we were buying a dehumidifier. It gave us a good excuse to go to Chungdae on a weeknight.

Daddy— look what I found! The “Outdark” Henry Store! I’ve never eaten here but maybe I’ll have to check it out since your name is on the front.

We finally got to try the new American-style Chinese restaurant that opened up. General Tso’s chicken…mmm. It turns out this place is basically a franchise of a chain of Chinese restaurants in Ohio. The owner was working there and decided to come back to Korea and open one here in Cheongju! Lucky for us.General Tso's

I had my 7 year old’s practice writing thank-you notes. I was happy to receive a couple that were directed toward me since I’ve never received any sort of “love note” before (Kevin has received many!).  I’m now “Ashlely” by the way. 🙂

kate thank you

Happy to have received a letter from my mom! Turns out, our picture was in the paper again! We took a photo of ourselves in front of Gyeongbokgung Palace in Seoul holding my mom’s local newspaper, and they printed it already! She sent me the actual newspaper print which is awesome. I have it up at my desk at work. Here’s a photo of it.
