In response to The Daily Post’s weekly photo challenge: “(Extra)ordinary.”
Here’s a couple shots from our recent trip to Hawaii. We visited Dole Plantation, home of Pineapple Express train and the Pineapple Garden Maze (apparently the world’s largest!). It’s also home to a koi pond, but not just any koi pond. There are hundreds of koi here and let’s just say, they know who feeds them.
When being fed, these koi are fierce competitors. They swim over and on top of each other, sometimes ending up essentially out of the water, and splash hard enough that if you are standing there, your legs may get wet!
I’ve never seen koi like this before and it was certainly a highlight of our visit to Dole Plantation!
